Introduction

Voice of New Generation (VNG) is a youth-led right based organization formed in 2009 and registered in 2012 under Societies Act of 1860. Voice of New Generation (VNG) is engaged in a long term initiative to develop and sustain a network of young emerging leaders, it has remained a program of Civil Society Support Program (CSSP) named “Empowering the Voices of New Generation”. It has emerged as an outcome of Civil Society Support Program’s initiative titled “Empowering the Voice of New Generation” supported by National Endowment for Democracy and UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF).

Voice of New Generation believes that, by engaging youth in deferent activities for their capacity building and providing them a platform can drive force for a change in Pakistan through lay down a youth moment for peaceful society based on democratic values. It is to be achieved by spreading the efforts of different stack holders including civil society organizations, media persons, academia, researchers, lawyers, trade unions, and elected representatives through lobbying and advocacy for policy reforms and implementation.

VNG works all over the Pakistan and it has 2000 youth registered members (18-35 years old) in 38 districts of Pakistan including 23 districts of Sindh, five universities of Sindh, five districts of Balochistan, five districts of Punjab and five districts of Khyber Pakhtoon Khawah.

To organize, educate, engage and empower youth for positive social change in the society through promoting democratic values, civic courage and sense of responsibility among the youth.

VNG Objectives

  • Providing relevant opportunities and tools to enable youth to exchange information, experiences, lessons learned.
  • Researching, gathering and distributing youth-related Information with the objective of improving communications with youth across Pakistan.
  • Promoting the Voice of New Generation within and outside the country, to the various levels of government, other youth, rural organizations and networks, and policy makers.
  • Connecting rural youth to urban, partner organizations and programs and service providers from across the country to encourage broad and participatory dialogue

Implementation Strategy

  • Initially, VNG concentrates its recruiting efforts on youth in all over Pakistan. but eventually will seek to expand the program to the International-level.

Membership Selection Criteria

  • Age: 18 and 30 years old, with balanced participation of males and females.
  • Seats reserved for non Muslims and other traditionally disadvantaged groups, in Central Executive Committee & General Body.
  • Special consideration to writers, artists, activists, journalists, and others who work in the public sphere.
  • Education: Minimum Matriculation.

Functions and Responsibilities of VNG Groups

  • Provide learning opportunities to its members.
  • Keep updated information about their members.
  • Develop annual plan for social events and exposures.
  • Promote VNG principles and values at the local level.
  • Promote volunteerism among the youth members.
  • Organize dialogues and discussions on different themes identified by the group.
  • Advocacy initiatives at local, provincial, national & international level
  • Coordination with District groups and their respective provincial Parliament to contribute in the collective tasks.
  • Arrange teleconferences to interact with inter-provincial and international youth dialogues to understand the national and global issues.
  • To contribute in the strategic plan of VNG for youth development and provide policy input to the national policies.
  • Be part of global movements for increasing participation of youth in democratic and political process.
